Sustainability
Eco-friendly deodorant
made just for girls

Our commitment to planet-loving beauty

At blossom & beau, sustainability is at our core, which is why our eco-friendly deodorant and body mist come in bottles and packaging made from recycled materials, cutting the amount of virgin plastic we use. We're proud to source most of our ingredients, packaging and printing locally, within a 10-mile radius of our headquarters in Warminster, Wiltshire, and our bottles are filled just over the border in Dorset.

Our commitment runs through the way we work too. Our cardboard boxes are made from FSC cardboard, single-use cups are out and every member of the team has a reusable one, and we keep our team local, supporting jobs and skills in our own community.

Sustainability remains the heart of blossom & beau

Small steps for a big impact

We continuously refine our processes to minimise our environmental footprint, from reducing energy consumption in our workspace to encouraging sustainable commuting options, including the choices we make around every product, from our eco-friendly deodorant packaging to the ingredients in our body mist made just for girls. We believe that collective small steps create a significant impact.

Our dedication to the planet is woven into our daily actions and ongoing discussions. As we grow, we actively seek innovations and partnerships that align with our values, ensuring sustainability remains the heart of blossom & beau.

Vegan and cruelty free deodorants
and body mists made just for girls

Every blossom & beau eco-friendly deodorant and body mist is vegan and cruelty-free. Not only is this a welfare choice, it's an important environmental one too.

Animal-derived ingredients such as beeswax, lanolin and tallow-based emulsifiers, which are still common in mainstream deodorants, carry the footprint of the farming behind them: land, water, feed and emissions. Leaving them out of our eco-friendly deodorants and body mists removes that footprint from our supply chain entirely.

It also means no animal testing at any stage, by us or on our behalf, and we choose suppliers who share that stance rather than simply meeting the legal minimum. Our efforts were recognised when our Dazzling Diva Natural Deodorant won a Vegan Choice Award.

Boxes made from FSC-certified cardboard

All our cardboard packaging, including the boxes we use for shipping our eco-friendly deodorants and body mists, is made from FSC-certified cardboard.

The Forest Stewardship Council mark means the fibres can be traced back to forests managed responsibly: trees are replanted, wildlife habitats and waterways are protected, and the people who live and work in those forests are treated fairly.

We chose FSC over unlabelled "recyclable" cardboard for exactly that reason. Almost any cardboard can be recycled; far less of it is responsibly sourced in the first place, and we'd rather fix the problem at the start of the chain than at the end.

Our boxes are printed just a few miles from our headquarters in Warminster using eco-friendly inks, which keeps the card clean to recycle and the transport miles low.

Eco-friendly deodorant bottles made from recycled plastic

Every eco-friendly deodorant and body mist bottle contains a minimum of 35% recycled plastics, helping to cut demand for virgin plastic. This means plastic that has already had one life, been collected, cleaned and remade, rather than plastic produced from scratch from oil.

This matters because virgin plastic is the costly part for the planet. Making it from raw materials uses far more energy and water than reprocessing plastic that already exists, and every kilo of recycled content we use is a kilo of new plastic that doesn't need to be made.

We won't call our bottles "plastic-free", because they aren't. A natural roll-on deodorant for a school bag has to be leak-proof, light and safe in small hands, and so far a recycled-content plastic bottle is the format that does that job best and recycles most easily afterwards. When the bottle is empty, rinse it, pop the cap back on and put it in your kerbside recycling.

Why we are proud to be a UK made eco-friendly deodorant brand

"I've spent twenty years as a paramedic and I've got five children, so I'm not easily impressed by a label. When I couldn't find an eco-friendly deodorant I was happy to put on my seven-year-old, I made one, and I wasn't going to cut corners on the planet she's growing up on to do it. Every ingredient, every bottle and every box is chosen by me, from suppliers I trust and who are within easy reach. If I wouldn't be happy explaining a decision to another mum, we wouldn't make it."

Amanda Johnson, blossom & beau founder

Sustainable deodorant ingredients

We choose all ingredients that go into our eco-friendly deodorants and body mists with care. That's why our deodorant formula is aluminium-free, replacing mined antiperspirant salts with diatomaceous earth, a naturally occurring mineral. The aluminium salts in conventional antiperspirants start as strip-mined bauxite, refined in one of the most energy-hungry industrial processes there is, then converted again before they reach the bottle. A long, heavy chain for a few grams under each arm.

Diatomaceous earth is a soft, chalky sediment formed over millions of years from the fossilised shells of tiny algae. It's quarried, dried and milled, and that's essentially it: no smelting and no chemical conversion. For what aluminium-free means for your daughter's skin, read the benefits of an aluminium-free deodorant for kids.

Recycling and packaging: your questions answered

How do I recycle my empty Dazzling Diva bottle?

Rinse it out, pop the cap back on and put it in your kerbside plastics recycling. The box goes in with your paper and card, and so does the recycled cardboard box your order arrived in. If you're not sure what your council collects, Recycle Now has a postcode checker.

Is blossom & beau packaging plastic-free?

No, and we won't claim it is. Our bottles contain a minimum of 35% recycled plastics, helping to cut demand for virgin, single-use plastic, but they are still plastic. A roll-on for a school bag has to be leak-proof, light and safe in small hands, and a recycled-content plastic bottle is currently the format that does that best and recycles most easily afterwards. Our boxes are FSC-certified cardboard.

Do you offer refillable options?

Not yet. We've looked at refillable natural deodorant systems for our eco-friendly deodorants and body mists and haven't found one that's leak-proof, hygienic for a child and affordable enough to keep the price where it is. It's a "not yet" rather than a "no", and we'll update this page if that changes! We are always looking at ways to enhance our products.

Is blossom & beau carbon neutral?

No, and we haven't bought offsets to say so. Our approach is to avoid emissions at the source rather than compensate for them afterwards: most of our ingredients, packaging and printing come from within 10 miles of Warminster, bottles are filled just over the border in Dorset, and everything ships in recycled cardboard.

Why choose a eco-friendly roll-on deodorant over an aerosol?

Aerosols rely on pressurised propellant gases and drying alcohols to give that instant-dry feel, and a mixed-material can (metal, plastic, residual gas) is harder to recycle than a single-material bottle. A roll-on has no propellant, no overspray and nothing for a child to breathe in — and the empty bottle goes straight in your recycling. See our full aerosol vs roll-on comparison.

Are your ingredients natural or organic?

Dazzling Diva is 98.71% natural and nature-derived — think diatomaceous earth, coconut-derived caprylic/capric triglyceride and olive-derived emollients. "Natural" and "organic" aren't the same thing, though: organic refers to how an ingredient was farmed and is independently certified, and we don't currently hold organic certification on our formula. We'd rather tell you that plainly than let the word "natural" imply more than it does.

Does Dazzling Diva contain sodium bicarbonate?

No. Many natural deodorants rely on high levels of sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) to control body odour, but it works by raising the skin's pH — which is exactly why it's the most common cause of the red, itchy underarm reaction parents report after switching to a "natural" brand. We control odour a gentler way instead, with triethyl citrate, which slows the bacterial process that causes the smell.

Is Dazzling Diva a vegan deodorant?

Yes. It contains no animal-derived ingredients and no animal testing was involved in developing it — it won the Vegan Choice Award in 2026.

What causes body odour, and will natural eco-friendly deodorant control it?

Body odour happens when bacteria on the skin break down sweat, and it's one of the very first signs of puberty — often arriving years earlier than parents expect. A well-formulated natural deodorant controls it by neutralising that bacterial process, not by blocking sweat altogether, which is exactly what a child needs.
